Green for Puerto Rico Challenge
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and María, MCS challenged us to raise $1 million by providing a match of up to $500,000 of contributions to MCS Foundation to be earmarked for hurricane relief and recovery. We met the goal in November 2017 and MCS offered to extend its match another $250,000, bringing the campaign goal total to $1.5 million. Funds raised were awarded to other tax exempt non-profit organizations for projects focused on hurricane recovery.
Green for Puerto Rico Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries were selected based on a variety of factors, including tax exempt status, fit with our pillars , direct ties to hurricane recovery, and demonstrated results. They were carefully evaluated by the MCS Foundation team and our Board of Directors. We gave preference to those organizations who had demonstrated the ability to gain measurable results and those where we could engage directly to oversee the impact of the grant awarded.
